67/hour Full Time/Part Time: Part Time Temporary/Permanent: Temporary Duties & Responsibilities: The Hawaii Community College Division of Student Affairs is searching for Community Outreach Ambassadors for the "Abot Kamay ng Pangaral" (A Dream Within Your Reach), Filipino Parent & Community Outreach Project.
The responsibilities include: Provide enrollment services to Hawaii Island low-income first generation high school students, parents and community members.
Provide in-person, one-on-one, and group setting college application, financial aid and scholarship application assistance at various locations across Hawaii Island.
Facilitate college high school workshops and community presentations.
Organize student college engagement activities.
Participate in high school college and community outreach events.
Provide information about Hawaii CC programs and resources to students, parents and community members.
Develop evaluation tools and tracking systems to report program goals and outcomes.
Attend leadership and staff development training.
Assist with the supervision of Student Ambassadors.
Perform general administrative office duties.
Duties may include evening and weekend hours at on-campus and off-campus locations.
Other duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Communications, Public Administration, Business, or any arts or science degree.
Experience serving diverse student populations.
Experience working with first generation, low-income and underrepresented communities.
Experience working with the Filipino community on Hawaii Island.
Experience working with Filipino community-based resources and organizations.
Proficient in Ilocano or Filipino/Tagalog languages.
Knowledge and understanding of factors that influence Filipino college enrollment.
Commitment to increasing college going rates of underrepresented communities.
Desirable Qualifications: Possession of a Master’s degree in Education, Communications, Public Administration, Business, or any arts or science degree.
Experience with navigating the college enrollment process at Hawaii CC.
Experience with navigating the financial aid application process.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of Hawaii CC programs and resources.
Ability to translate written materials into Ilocano or Filipino/Tagalog languages.
