Examples of Duties
We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative 7th Grade Science Teacher to teach four periods of 7th-grade science, and one period of computer science to 6th-8th graders.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and delivering dynamic and differentiated science instruction that meets the needs of diverse learners and aligns with Next Generation Science Standards, including place based opportunities when possible.
- Providing personalized support and intervention to help students build a strong foundation in science concepts and skills.
- Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel motivated, engaged, and empowered to succeed.
- Using a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
- Collaborating with colleagues to learn from each other and to share strategies to help one another ensure maximum growth and proficiency for our students.
Minimum Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Science or related field
- Master’s/post baccalaureate degree in elementary or secondary education
- Valid teaching license/certification.
- Experience teaching middle school science, preferably at the 7th-grade level.
- Strong knowledge of science standards and instructional strategies.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.

The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom.
With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree.
If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license.
You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department.
Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB).
It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in.
Upon hire you will need to have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit.
