Other Conditions: Appointment to begin approximately January 2024, pending position clearance and availability of funding.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate courses within the major and GE, including the two semester survey sequence in World History;
Offer undergraduate courses in Pacific history (survey and area of specialization);
Contribute to history program courses in historiography and research methods;
Contribute to Pacific Islands Studies Certificate;
Maintain an active agenda of scholarly research and publication; participate in service work; and fulfill other duties assigned by the department chair;
Serve on appropriate department, college, and university committees, and contribute to department activities
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.
D.
in History (or related discipline) by December 31, 2023, from an accredited college or university;
Experience teaching Pacific, Hawaiian, AND/OR World history.
Desirable Qualifications
Ph.
D.
in History (with Pacific specialty) from an accredited college or university;
Graduate field in Pacific History, with experience teaching Pacific or Hawaiian History;
AND/OR experience teaching World History, AND/OR experience teaching historical methods and research courses, AND/OR experience teaching public history.
Research proficiency in a Pacific language, with evidence of strong research capabilities.
Professional experience with Public History
