*Second Grade Teaching Position (Laupāhoehoe)* Laupāhoehoe Community Public Charter School is seeking Kindergarten - Sixth Grade applicants for the 2024-2025 school year.
Length of Assignment: 10 Months Primary Purpose: To teach children with patience and creativity.
Kindergarten – Sixth Grade teacher duties include designing a teaching plan and using activities and instructional methods to motivate children.
This includes planning, implementing, and assessing lessons to create a well-rounded curriculum that enhances the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional domains of each child’s development.
To establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for upper elementary grade education following each student's ability; to establish relationships working actively with staff members and with parents in fostering appropriate child outcomes.

) Responsibilities * Design and follow a complete curriculum plan * Teach alphabet and numeracy along with personal, social, and emotional skills * Organize learning material and resources * Use a variety of activities and instructional methods (songs, stories, media, structured games, art, outdoor activities, etc.
) to motivate and stimulate children’s abilities * Maintain an open line of communication with parents and provide appropriate information * Assess students’ performance and progress to ensure they are mastering the skills on a regular basis * Monitor children’s interactions and nurture cooperation and sharing * Cooperate with administration staff * Follow and comply with teaching standards and safety regulations * Participates cooperatively with the director to develop the method by which the teacher will be evaluated in conformance with guidelines.
* Selects and requisitions books and instructional aides; maintains required inventory records.
* Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the school day and while on excursions.
* Administers group and individual standardized tests in accordance with the state testing program.
* Participates in curriculum development programs as required.
* Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities and school events.
Requirements * Proven working experience as a K - 6 teacher, K - 6 assistant, or teacher aide * Excellent knowledge of child development and the latest education theories and practices * Creative and artistic teaching abilities * Teaching and organization skills * Patience and flexibility * Strong communication skills * Keep abreast with the latest trends and best practices * BS/BA degree in education or relevant license/certificate * Hawaii State teaching license (HTSB) Elementary K-6 Licensing Preferred Compensation: Teachers' salaries and benefits are determined by the most recent collective bargaining agreement between the Department of Education and the Hawai`i State Teacher's Association using a modified salary range step schedule that recognizes teaching experience.
