*Primary Purpose:* Assist the teaching team with preparing and implementing the Tūtū and Me curriculum and program.
*Essential Duties:* * Work as part of a team to create and prepare learning materials for keiki and caregivers enrolled in the program; * Model, teach, and play with enrolled families in a professional manner that encourages caregivers to be their keikiʻs first and foremost teacher; * Contribute towards supportive professional relationships with families and colleagues; * Help maintain safety guidelines and expectations at the office and program sites.
*Other Duties:* Other duties may include but are not limited to, assisting the team with daily attendance, observing caregivers and keiki for assistance with data and assessments, participating in the lesson plan process, and participating in team discussions.
*Work Hours:* * Monday through Friday, up to 19 hours per week; hours of operation varied by site and determined by the Site Manager; * Consistent and reliable attendance.
*Working Conditions:* * Program mobile sites in locations such as community centers, schools, and churches; * Office setting; * Travel in program vehicle to and from program sites; * Travel to neighbor islands and the U.
S.
continent may be required.
*Equipment Use:* Office equipment (computer, printer, copier, scanner, bluetooth, laminator, shredder), site and facility equipment.
*Mental, Physical, and Communication Demands:* *MENTAL:* * Consistently adhere to the practice of PIDF’s five core values that are used as a guiding force in the success of all of its programs; * Be aware and attentive to program participants; * Analyze and problem-solve issues; * Able to multitask and prioritize; * Be flexible to the daily needs of the families and program; * Actively demonstrate a commitment to support equity and inclusion, and serve as an advocate for colleagues, partners, and communities; * Take responsibility and ownership for successfully accomplishing work and the organization’s objectives and delivering results.
Set high standards of shared performance for self and others; * Ensure work is thoughtfully completed, accurate, and error-free to the highest degree possible.
*PHYSICAL:* * May include strenuous activities which include loading/unloading of program materials and equipment from the van, setup and breakdown of program learning centers; * May require lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds on a regular basis; * Must be able to sit and work on the floor; kneel and bend.
*COMMUNICATION:* * Exhibit courteous and professional interpersonal skills towards program participants, staff, and administration via verbal, written, physical, and electronic communication; * Comfortable speaking with participants individually or in front of large groups; singing, dancing, and storytelling; * Maintain highly confidential information.
*Minimum Qualification Requirements:* *REQUIRED:* * High school diploma or equivalent required.
*PREFERRED:* * Three (3) months experience working with keiki; * Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva publishing, and virtual meeting platforms; * Knowledge and understanding of Hawaiian culture and values; * A valid driver's license and a safe and responsible driving record.
