Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching role includes courses in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), RN to BSN, and/or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs with duties to include: teaching classroom lectures, clinical practicum and lab courses, and courses delivered by distance education; advising students; engaging in scholarly activity and development of outcomes assessment; participating in University, departmental, and community service; serving on SON committees, community events and participating in weekly mandatory faculty meetings.
Minimum qualifications:
Assistant Professor:
Doctorate in a nursing-related field.
Eligible for Hawai`i RN licensure and other established professional and health requirements.
Experience in teaching or working with undergraduate and/or graduate clinical nursing students in acute care, long-term care, mental health, obstetrics and/or pediatrics settings, or a combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of this position.
Experience teaching culturally diverse student populations in rural clinical settings.
Excellent communication, planning, and organization skills.
Associate Professor:
In addition to the minimum qualifications for Assistant Professor as stated above:
Minimum of five (5) years of full-time college/university teaching at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher.
Documentation of high-quality teaching performance, high quality scholarly and/or creative activities and contributions in service, and service to the academic life of a college.
Desirable qualifications:
Experience teaching on Hawaii island with diverse student populations.
Eligible for Hawai`i APRN FNP licensure.
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) doctoral degree.
Clinical experience in acute care, long term care, mental health, primary care and/or general medical/surgical practice.
Experience with synchronous and asynchronous education technology and outcomes assessment.
Administration of grants and research experience.
Experience with instruction in BSN and/or DNP nursing program and doctoral projects.
Experience coordinating clinical programs in undergraduate Baccalaureate nursing programs with culturally diverse populations.
Background or experience with simulated learning experiences, including the use of high-fidelity patient simulators via detailed, clinically-based scenarios with instruction, evaluation, and remediation in didactic and/or clinical learning settings.
Pay range: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
