Duties: Utilize the student information system (Banner) to assign and manage prospective student communication plans Assist with data input for transfer credit evaluations Assist with data input for student applications Conduct individual and group presentations to potential applicants, parents, school officials, civic groups and the general public Correspond with applicants, parents, school officials, faculty and the general public regarding admissions policies, procedures and issues Assist with planning, implementation and evaluation of targeted recruitment activities Evaluate and determine admission status of applicants to UH Hilo Determine residency of applicants and class standing Calculate grade-point averages and evaluate standardized test scores Evaluate courses from previous institutions Develop positive working relationships with high school and community college counselors within assigned region Work closely with third-party vendor on management of electronic applications into and through online portal Work closely with third-party vendor on content development and engagement with accepted students through online platform Select, train and supervise student employees for front office operations, including phone and email communications Manage campus tours program, including maintaining campus tours website, scheduling of student guides, confirmation, and email communications Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Social Sciences, Business, or other related field and one (1) year of progressively responsible experience in a higher education setting; or equivalent education/training or employment experience Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software Desirable Qualifications: Three years professional experience in admissions or related area providing educational services, counseling or other assistance to students and student groups Considerable knowledge of the University programs and organizations, their purpose and function Considerable knowledge of the policies, regulations and practices of the university system as applied to the recruitment of students, including Hawaiian and other disadvantaged groups Considerable knowledge of the techniques and procedures involved in academic and personal counseling Some knowledge in the principles and practices of modern office management Proven ability to effectively speak to large groups, and the ability to plan, schedule and conduct recruitment activities, and to learn the specific techniques needed to communicate effectively with students Ability to learn the specific techniques needed to operate effectively with students Ability to plan, schedule and conduct recruitment activities Three years professional experience in admissions, or related area, providing educational services, counseling, or other assistance to students and student groups To Apply: Click on the “Apply” button on the top right corner of the screen to complete an application and attach the required documents.
