Duties and Responsibilities
Teach twelve (12) credit hours equivalent of Aeronautical Science courses per semester, two semesters per year.
Assist in managing the Aeronautical Sciences degree program.
Provide support in teaching simulator courses.
Participate in ongoing course and curriculum development activities in the program and college as a whole.
Assist with the flight simulator maintenance program.
Prepare course schedule, syllabus, and reports related to teaching and reports related to teaching and student progress.
Maintain a minimum of five (5) office hours per week and advise students.
Participate and engage in CAFNRM/University/community activities.
Summer duties include providing supervised simulator lab hours for qualified aeronautical science students and performing program public relations and recruitment activities.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) or FAA Certified Ground Instructor (GI).
Evidence of involvement with a University Aeronautical Sciences program.
Demonstrated ability to teach at the college level including hands-on courses with simulators.
Demonstrated experience in program management and community outreach.
Possess a positive professional demeanor with students, support staff and supervisors.
Desirable Qualifications
Possession of current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) CFI and ATP licenses.
Hold instrument and multiengine instructor ratings.
Two (2) years of teaching experience at an academic Aeronautical Sciences program or a FAA Certified flight school or Part 121 Line-Check Pilot experience.
Understanding of the TSA Alien Flight School program rules and regulations.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with regional FAA offices.
Ability to develop working relationships with regional airport managers.
Thorough knowledge of flight simulator training.
Basic electronic and mechanical skills.
Familiar with the development of University courses in Aeronautical Sciences.
Demonstrated record of scholarly activities in the Aeronautical Sciences area.
