*Summary*: The Grants and Community Advancement Director is responsible for all activities related to the community building process and grant program administration for Hawai‘i Island United Way.
This includes developing strong, positive relationships with partner agency representatives/recipients of the Community Impact Grant Program, other grant program representatives/recipients including the FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter Grant Program, managing the grant software database, reviewing and monitoring program outcomes, researching grant opportunities for HIUW, participating in community impact forums, providing direction and support to the HIUW Community Building Committee members, representing HIUW at community meetings, and perpetuating the mission of HIUW.
*Accountability*: The Grants and Community Advancement Director reports to the President and Chief Professional Officer.
● Serves as the liaison between HIUW and partner agencies, building supportive collegial relationships.
● Under the direction of the CPO, provides training, guidance, and support to partner agency representatives, relating to all aspects of the grant application and allocation process i.

● Reviews, monitors, and tracks program outcomes on a semi-annual basis and collaborates with CPO on all program processes and outcomes.
● Ensures the grant portal/software program is updated as needed and required.
Collaborates with HIUW’s grant software company regularly and promptly addresses technical issues.
● Oversees the organization’s grant administration (requirements and application) process from pre-award research to post award grant closeout, covering every stage of the grant lifecycle.
● Responsible for the development, tracking, and revision of all forms, reports, documents, practices, and policies relating to all HIUW grant programs with feedback and guidance from the CPO.
● Keep track of the documentation and other supporting materials for projects financed by grants awarded to the organization.
● Assist the CPO with keeping track of all receipts and payments and provide a monthly report for all grant-related activity.
● Determine and create plans to streamline the grants administration procedure.
● Assist the CPO with investigating reputable funding opportunities with a track record of success and legal registration.
● Assists the CPO with the agenda, minutes, presentation and scheduling of the Vision Council, Community Building, EFSP Committee, and Annual Meeting.
● Ensures that HIUW remains compliant with United Way Worldwide Policies & Guidelines regarding administering grants.
● Serves on the Community Building, Strategic Management, Special Events, Marketing Committees, and any other standing and ad hoc committees as required apart from the Executive and HR committees.
● Participates in community problem solving forums and serves as a catalyst to bring these groups to the table and align them with selected HIUW community-based initiatives.
Creates a collaborative process to ensure the combined efforts of all aspects of the community (business, government, civic associations, schools, partner agencies and other HIUW grant recipients) work together for a common goal.
● In conjunction with the CPO, enhances public understanding of human services needs and the role HIUW plays.
● Assist the CPO with maintaining all corporate records to include Board and Committee agendas and minutes of meetings that specifically result in an "action".
● Assists the HIUW team with campaign and special events, including a focus on community building promotional material and participation in community events.
● Performs other duties consistent with the scope of the position.
● Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers to assure that HIUW resources are allocated in accordance with the Strategic Management Plan.

● Continuous learning and development *Employee Qualifications* ● Bachelor’s degree with a major in communications, business administration, social sciences, or related field, or equivalent experience.
● Two years of supervisory or managerial experience in a nonprofit organization or similar organization.
● One year of Grant administration oversight including the development of grant applications, the application procedure, and the disbursement of funding.
● Grant budgeting skills.
● Experience in working effectively with volunteer boards and committees.
● Ability to organize, plan and implement activities appropriate to further HIUW goals.
● Excellent computer literacy; proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and computer systems.
● Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with adequate insurance.
● Ability to qualify for fidelity bonding.
● Experience in nonprofit organization management.
● Master’s Degree in social sciences, business administration, or related field.
● Thorough knowledge of fundraising efforts.
Work Conditions: ● Day time hours 7:45am – 4:30pm however, may require late hours and weekends to complete assignments and projects or special events.
● Required to meet multiple priorities and project due dates.
● Indoor work - exposed to indoor conditions, dust, noise, dirt, heat, various lighting conditions; and outdoor work – exposed to weather conditions and temperatures.
Physical & Mental Requirements: ● Work may be performed at various locations under varying conditions.
● May require sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.
● May lift boxes and other materials up to 30 pounds.
● May be required to drive long distances in performance of duties.
● Requires managing multiple functions and tasks.
