SUMMARY:
Under supervision, applies rustproofing and undercoating to vehicles in accordance with quality specifications and time standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
• Operates and uses shop equipment properly and safely.
• Maintains a high level of productivity.
• Removes rust, grease, and dirt from work surface.
• Masks and protects parts that are not to be coated.
• Uses chemicals according to specifications.
• Use sprayer and other equipment as appropriate.
• Inspects finished units for quality of workmanship, noting any exceptions.
• Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair.
• Fuel all vehicles that need to be fueled.
• Deliver, shuttle, or pick up vehicles as required.
• Keeps work area clean.
• Maintains and wears all required safety and health protective equipment in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
• Paperwork will be done in a professional and accurate manner.
• Meets with DSD Manager/ Operations Supervisor at the end of the day and first thing in the morning to review daily progress and get Daily Vehicle Schedule for the day.
• Follows policies and procedures to ensure a consistent high level of quality service.
• Vehicle processing orders shall be followed in the order of Sold Units, Kona Auto Center Vehicles, Kamaaina Motors and Kamaaina Nissan.
This order is subject to change in the discretion of Management.
• Wash vehicle exterior, clean interior and exterior windows, and wipe down door jams.
• Washes vehicle exterior using fallout remover and 365 Solvent to clean where needed to remove over spray of undercoat (Sound Guard)
• Clean engine bay to remove dust during shipment.
• Vacuum all interiors of vehicle to remove loose dirt and debris.
• Cleans upholstery, vinyl and carpet areas including the trunk.
• Applies revitalizers and preservation agents to interior vinyl or leather and painted areas.
• Apply paintguard to the vehicle’s painted body and wipe off or buff off properly.
• Apply fiberguard to vehicle carpet, upholstery and carpet floor mats properly.
• Apply leatherguard to all leather interiors properly.
• After vehicle(s) completed, inspection must be done with Operations Supervisoror Senior detailer.
• All vehicles that are cleaned should be delivery ready when going onto sales lot.
• Applies special purpose cleaners to remove foreign materials which normal cleaning procedures do not remove, utilizing experience and judgment and following product manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Inspects vehicles for noticeable defects, such as dents, scratches, torn upholstery, and poor mechanical operation.
• Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to chemicals and other hazardous materials.
Reports any deviations to working supervisor.
• Cooperates and assists other personnel in prepping vehicles.
Complies with federal, state and local regulations that affect the prep department operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
Must have a valid Driver’s License with an acceptable Driver’s Abstract.
