Job Summary Responsible for the visual documentation of programs, services, and significant events and activities of historical importance to Kamehameha Schools statewide.
Provides consultation to administration and staff on multi-media needs for classroom, business and PR use.
Responsible for strategizing and overseeing the creation of the organization’s visual images inventory and developing methods, systems and procedures for storing, maintaining and accessing the inventory.
Essential Responsibilities Responsible for visual documentation (via color, B&W slides, prints, digital media, etc.
) of Kamehameha Schools programs, services, events, and activities statewide of significance and historical importance to the institution.
Also, plans, prioritizes and executes studio and location photography in support of KS’ PR, communications and brand management functions.
Strategizes and oversees the creation and maintenance of Kamehameha’s visual image inventory that represents Kamehameha Schools’ entire operation, primarily for communications purposes, but also for historical documentation and reference.
Develops policies, systems and procedures for storing, maintaining and accessing the inventory via digital technology.
Includes planning and transitioning the organization’s film and print collection to digital format.
Collaborates on and contributes to creative teams which develop and produce communications campaigns and materials.
May take the lead on selected projects, including coordinating editorial, design and production functions.
Provides consultation to administration and staff on multi-media needs for classroom, business and PR use.
Creates and maintains photo gallery and other visual images on www.
ksbe.
edu and KSOnline websites.
Provides photo images, processing and finishing services as needed for use by students, staff, faculty, and selected external audiences.
Ensures compliance of all published and archived images with Kamehameha Schools’ graphics and brand standards, and contributes to ongoing improvement efforts of department and division.
Position Requirements Minimum Qualifications - A combination of education and experience may be substituted for the requirements listed.
Bachelor’s Degree in Photography, Visual Arts, Digital Imaging or other related field Minimum of 3 years related work experience producing photography for publication.
Photographic and visual design expertise, including knowledge and experience with studio, portrait, copy and location photography, lighting, product styling, color balance and control, processing and development, printing and display production.
Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills to interact successfully with clients and vendors, and engender trust and cooperation from photo subjects.
High degree of organization to coordinate multiple tasks and projects.
Working knowledge of photographic and design hardware and software, including scanning and reproduction devices.
Knowledge and demonstrated ability to successfully implement best practices and procedures in support of highest customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Excellent organizational and planning skills to effectively manage multiple, creative projects and meet stringent deadlines.
Superior ability to research, learn and implement emerging digital imaging, reproduction and storage processes and equipment.
Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate evening, weekend, and holiday photo shoots.
Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Photoshop and other authoring software.
Familiarity with educational settings and Hawaiian culture, especially as applicable to KS’ visual imaging and branding.
Physical Requirements Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.
Working Conditions This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
Work is conducted in an office/school environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
