Founded in 1998, Shrimp Improvement Systems (SIS) produces genetically improved and Specific Pathogen Free _P vannamei_ shrimp broodstock.
The organization consists of a Nucleus Breeding Center, production tanks, hatchery and administrative buildings, and has proven to be ideal for both shrimp breeding and broodstock multiplication.
Shrimp Improvement Systems is one of the leading producers of SPF vannamei in the worldwide shrimp aquaculture industry.
*Job Description:* As a key member of the SIS team, the Maintenance Crew is an essential part of the team.
With shrimp farming constantly changing and new technologies and methods arising each year, it is the responsibility of the Maintenance Crew to help implement changes as directed by the Manager to ensure the equipment and operations are consistently functioning in optimal levels.
The Maintenance Crew Worker is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment.
*Essential Responsibilities and Duties:* 1.
Perform all duties accurately, independently and according to SIS procedures and protocols, consistently handling assignments with the highest quality, attention to detail, preparation and safety at all times.
2.
Identifies and evaluates potential problems and solutions, in coordination with the department manager, for all farm equipment and operations.
3.
Confers with Manager to review achievements and discuss required changes in work assignments or priorities resulting from any changes in company objectives and goals, emergencies that arise, etc.
4.
Coordinates with Manager or department managers to maintain/repair/upgrade facilities as recommended.
5.
Perform duties that require construction skills such as masonry, carpentry, plumbing, equipment operation, mechanical skills, small engine repair, HVAC and electrical control systems and knowledgeable in diagnostics.
6.
Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs and conduct preventive maintenance for company equipment and systems.
7.
Safely use a variety of hand and power tools, chemicals, and other materials in performing duties, following all recommended safety procedures.
8.
Assist in proper storage of and maintaining inventory of equipment consumables, emergency repair supplies and materials.
9.
Complete all maintenance assignments, keeping accurate punch lists of all tasks and update as completed, in a manner that demonstrates care of the quality of the work and towards the facility.
10.
Assist in maintaining a clean environment on the campus, following all health and safety guidelines and all biosecurity protocols.
11.
Maintain confidentiality of company proprietary information.
12.
Perform other duties as needed or directed by the Supervisor or designee.

High School Diploma or equivalent GED 2.
Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience in the maintenance and/or construction field with ability to demonstrate skill and knowledge as stated in the Essential Responsibilities and Duties, or combination of education and experience.

Good math and reading as related to assigned work duties *Preferred Education and Experience:* 1.
Advanced education and/or certifications in specific areas such as electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
2.
Skilled with electrical work.
3.
Experience operating heavy equipment.
4.
Training or experience specifically related to aquaculture.
*Physical Requirements:* 1.
Ability to work at least 40 hours per week to include nights, weekends, holidays and/or on-call.
Regular attendance is essential to carry out the duties of this position.
2.
Ability to lift or carry 50 - 75 lbs.
3.
Ability to work outdoors, doing physical work in hot temperatures, often on wet and/or uneven surfaces; and sitting/standing for long periods of time.
4.
Working conditions may also include getting into the tanks and working in wet conditions with the animals.
5.
Ability to work with chemicals such as bleach and acid, while following all safety guidelines.

A valid driver’s license is required, with a clean driving record.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States, preferably local and residing on Hawaii Island.
