PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY The primary responsibility of an Accounting Clerk is to assure accurate keypunching of Accounts Payable documents while assisting in the daily operations of the Accounting department.
JOB DESCRIPTION ESSENTIAL DUTIES You MUST perform the following duties regularly and up to company standards: Verify all Accounts Payable invoices to Edit Report.
Scan, index, and file all bank, receivable, and petty cash invoices and attachments.
File all vendor statements.
Process manufacturer coupons and checks.
Cash balance monitoring.
Data entry and editing of inter-store transfers.
Assist with vendor and account reconciliations.
Verify wholesale receipts.
Answer all department incoming telephone calls.
Perform other duties as required.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES In order to provide the best possible service to our customers, the following duties are also required on an as-needed basis, during slow periods, or upon instruction by a supervisor, manager or designated person-in-charge.
Deliver, pick-up, and distribute inter-store mail.
Coinstar data entry.
Manage postage meter and office supplies.
Verify billable hours on repair and maintenance invoices.
Update selected payroll, vendor, and sales related spreadsheets.
Out of office errands.
Perform other duties as required or assigned.
CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPECTATIONS All associates are required to provide our customers with World Class Service with a local touch.
GREET all customers (be friendly, smile and make face-to-face eye contact).
HELP all customers (listen and pay attention; be courteous; be knowledgeable about product location, services offered and store hours; offer alternatives if a product is out of stock; take the customer to the product, etc.
).
Personalize the customers shopping experience (make small talk, offer meal suggestions, explain current store promotions, etc.
).
THANK all customers (show appreciation and offer a parting comment).
WORKING CONDITIONS Continuously: Perform all duties in an office that is clean, adequately lighted, air conditioned and has no windows.
Work in an open office with several co-workers working in cubicles or side-by-side.
Occasionally: Run errands around town using a company vehicle.
Walk outside of the building to deliver inter-store mail to the Central Warehouse daily.
WORK HOURS Generally be available for work Monday through Friday and holidays, between 8:00 a.
m.
and 5:00 p.
m.
EQUIPMENT USE Frequently need to use a computer to scan, index and and verify invoices; calculator, photo-copier, printer, fax machine, postal machine, and other office equipment to complete office related duties or functions.
Occasionally need to use a telephone to answer incoming calls and communicate to other staff in the company; operate freight elevator and use shopping cart to deliver inter-store mail to the Central Warehouse; operate a vehicle to run errands around town.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT None MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND COMMUNICATION DEMANDS MENTAL Continuously need to concentrate well, be alert and pay attention to detail to perform all duties; be able to comprehend instructions before performing each duty.
Frequently need to use mathematical skills to calculate and verify invoices, coupons, checks, etc.

PHYSICAL Frequently need to sit at a desk and use a computer (monitor, keyboard, printer and mouse) and a telephone, throughout the day.
Occasionally need to stand and walk to access various office equipment and supplies, and to travel to other departments and worksites; lift and carry up to 30 pounds when transporting inter-store mail and supplies; stoop, bend, kneel, reach, crouch, climb and maintain balance on ladders and step stools when storing or retrieving supplies.
COMMUNICATION Continuously need to listen, talk to, understand, and be honest and forthright with customers, co-workers, management and vendors in a prompt and professional manner when doing all job duties; talk on the telephone when answering incoming calls, communicating with store personnel, vendors and financial institutions; read efficiently to proof all work.
Frequently need to write in a coherent and legible manner when communicating with customers, co-workers, vendors and management; need to read and understand various invoices, bank statements, vendor statements, manufacture coupons or other printed materials.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Skills and Knowledge: Should have basic computer skills and be familiar with Excel spreadsheets.
Must have basic math skills and good organizational skills, be able to multi task to accomplish work on time, be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with workers, vendors and management, and be able to work under minimal or no supervision.
Education, Experience and Age Restrictions: Must be at least 18 years of age to enter the warehouse and operate a freight elevator and any power driven equipment.
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a valid Driver License to operate a company vehicle.
College graduate or equivalent degree preferred.
Accounting experience is preferred.
